FAQs

How long can I have the skip for?

A standard hire period is two weeks however if you need it for longer just let us know. There is an additional charge of £15.00 per week for any extra weeks on top of the standard hire period.

What size skip should I hire?

We have skip size information for you to have a look at under ‘A skip guide’. It is very important that the skip is not overloaded but is loaded level with the sides and not heaped. This is to ensure safe transportation on public roads and if found to be overloaded on collection, return fee may apply.

What areas do you cover?

Ready Skips Ltd cover the counties of Hertfordshire and Essex.

What will happen to my waste once it is taken away?

Once we collect you waste it will be taken to a waste recycling centre where it will be sorted to ensure maximum recycling. Ready Skips Ltd are registered waste carriers therefore the license is monitored by the Environment Agency.

Is there anything I cannot put in the skip?

Yes, unfortunately we cannot allow you to put the following items into our skips – Asbestos, fridge/freezers, gas cylinders, tyres and hazardous waste.

Do I need a permit?

If the skip is going to be placed on private land ie; a driveway then the answer is no. However if the skip is going to be on a road or public highway then you will need a permit from your local council. In many cases we may be able to deal with this on your behalf however please contact us to discuss. Please also allow time if a permit is required as some councils take 3-4 days to authorise.
